  1. Unrelated to your sweet looking new bike, I didn't figure you would see my reply if I posted it on my ancient wedding blog post. :)

For my blusher veil, we bought about $6 worth of French Netting from a local specialty fabric store. I want to say that was about 3 yards worth? Anyhow, it was at least double what we ended up needing. The netting comes in about 12" wide swaths. We wrapped it around my head until we figured out where we needed it to come together, and cut it to roughly that length. Then we ran a white thread back and forth down one side lengthwise. We put it back around my head and pulled that thread taut, gathering it all together on that one side. When we got the shape and size right, we just tied off that thread. There was a random extra pouf, but we just left that on there as some extra interest, and covered up the ugly thread gathered area with my fascinator that I bought on craigslist and added feathers to.

It was very quick and dirty and jury-rigged, but it worked, and was certainly a cheap solution!

  2. Mary-- thank you so much for all the details! I may give it a shot. Cross your fingers for me. Hopefully I won't shoot you any random seamstress questions as I go along. kh

  3. Good luck and have fun! At the end of the day, if it's a failed experiment, it's a cheap failed experiment. ;) There are good options on etsy, otherwise!
